We centered our discussion around buying a home as a single female. Single women are 18% of the home buyers according to the National Association of Realtors.
Lyndsey is passionate about helping single women buy homes and has some great insights into it because she recently went through process herself.
She mentioned that overcoming the doubt in her ability to buy was the biggest hurdler in the process. She did this by reaching out to a lender to talk about her ability to buy.
Single incomes may have a tough time saving or may not have perfect credit, but at the end of the day there are plenty of loan options with lower down payments that create an environment where a single income can successfully purchase a home.
We talked about the large number of people who don’t take action because of this doubt. Many of them who would qualify easily to purchase a home.
Lyndsey gave her thoughts on whether it was worth buying and compared the monthly costs of owning vs renting.
One of things that she said that really stuck out to me was that she understands that her first home isn’t necessarily her dream home and that she was willing to work up to that through buying and selling real estate.
She mentioned her favorite place to grab a drink in Spokane is Hogwash Whiskey Den. She like the crafted drinks and think the whiskey tastes much better there than anywhere else.
